Brian McDonald, O.D.
Dr. McDonald was born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1998 and went on to graduate from Northeastern State University Optometry School. He is currently an active member of the Lions Club and past President. Dr. McDonald is certified for ocular treatment of eye infections, removal of foreign objects and diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. He also specializes in fitting of contact lenses.
Joanna Meats, O.D.
Dr. Joanna Meats is originally from Goddard, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1999 and went on to graduate from Northeastern State University Optometry School. Dr. Meats is certified for ocular treatment of eye infections, removal of foreign objects and diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. She also specializes in fitting of contact lenses. Dr Meats is currently an active member of the Lions Club and past Treasurer. She is also a member of the KOA and the American Optometric Association.


Dawn Ertel, O.D.
Dr. Dawn Ertel graduated from Hanover College in 1990 with a B.A. degree and received her O.D. from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1994. She came to Kansas City from Bluffton, Indiana in 2001. She practices full scope primary eye optometry including the treatment and management of ocular disease and the fitting of contact lenses.
Natalie Hofferber, O.D.
Dr. Natalie Hofferber is from Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Kansas and went on to earn her doctorate in Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Hofferber is a board-certified optometrist dedicated to providing eye care for patients of all ages. She specializes in comprehensive eye exams, including the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, fitting of contact lenses, and treatment of eye infections.


Jeff Harter, O.D.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pittsburg State University in 2005, Dr. Harter completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2009. While in optometry school, he was inducted into the Beta Sigma and Gold Key Honor Societies. After graduating, he completed a Primary Care Residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Kansas City in 2010.
In addition to being an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Society of Greater Kansas, at Family Eye Care, Dr. Harter specializes in comprehensive primary care, emergency eye care, and specialty contact lens fittings. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry. He previously served as the Board President for the Kansas City Free Eye Clinic.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Harter stays active on the sand volleyball court and shares his passion for music by performing in three different local concert bands.
