  • What does dilation do?

Eye dilation involves using specialized drops to temporarily enlarge your pupils, giving your eye doctor a better view of the retina, optic nerve, and other structures at the back of your eyes. This allows for a more thorough evaluation and helps detect potential signs of eye disease. After dilation, you may experience blurred or reduced near vision for approximately 4–6 hours. Distance vision is typically less affected, although sensitivity to light can occur. Many patients can still see well enough to drive, but we recommend bringing sunglasses and using your best judgment based on how your vision feels.
  • What is the difference between a bi-focal and progressive lens?

Bifocal lenses provide two areas of vision in one lens: the upper portion is designed for distance viewing, while the lower portion is used for near vision. A visible line separates the two prescriptions, making it easy to distinguish between the distance and reading areas. Progressive lenses offer distance, intermediate, and near vision without a visible line. The prescription gradually changes from the top to the bottom of the lens, creating a smoother, more natural transition between different viewing distances.
  • What is the benefit in sunglasses polarization?

Polarized sunglasses are designed to reduce glare from reflected light on surfaces such as roads, water, and glass. By minimizing glare, they can improve visual comfort, reduce eye strain, and provide clearer vision in bright conditions. Polarized lenses are especially helpful for driving, outdoor activities, and spending time near water.
  • What does anti-reflective coating do?

Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating helps reduce reflections and glare on the surface of your lenses, allowing more light to pass through for clearer, more comfortable vision. It can be especially helpful in low-light conditions and may reduce glare from headlights while driving at night. AR coating also makes lenses appear less reflective, giving them a cleaner, more natural appearance. Our Anti-Reflective Coating includes a 2-time, 2-year scratch warranty on the lenses. For patients who spend significant time using computers, phones, and other digital devices, Blue Light AR is also typically available as an option to help provide additional visual comfort.
  • What age of children do you see?

We welcome patients as young as 3 years old for comprehensive eye care.
  • What does an eye exam cost without insurance?

A full comprehensive eye exam starts at $109 (2026).
